Mr. HBCU Consulting, LLC

Mr. HBCU Consulting, LLC Post-secondary education consulting firm specializing in widening access for marginalized and historically underrepresented students. HBCU was born. Mr.

With almost a decade of higher education experience, spanning the spectrum from student development to academic affairs, Mr. HBCU initially started as a tool to exhibit my love, pride, and support for the landmark institutions known as Historically Black Colleges & Universities (HBCUs); however, it grew to be and mean so much more. An increasingly competitive higher education landscape, coupled with a steady decrease in support served as the impetus for Mr. HBCU to evolve into an advocacy group. I have made use of my platform and humble means to champion the HBCU cause, defend their relevancy, and answer their calls for support. However, as with any college or university, there are a myriad of concerns worthy of attention and it becomes most beneficial to hone my focus. My professional experience serving as an administrator on a variety of campuses alerted me to the issue of college readiness. As states seek to restructure their budgets, public education is on the chopping block time after time. This unfortunate scenario results in cuts to k-12 systems that are entrusted to prepare the next generation of college students. Families that are not fortunate enough to afford private schools and private tutors often receive the short end of stick-- they're left to figure out "the whole college thing" by themselves.

I decided that I would do all that I could, with what I had to prevent further erosion of the American Dream as realized by way of a higher education experience. HBCU stands to fill the gaps left by failing public school systems. Given the increasingly global economy it is imperative that graduates, especially those historically denied access, are adequately prepared to compete on the world stage.
