You’ve made me proud, gentlemen. Very proud. For the first time in so many years, we pulled off a ritual with an alumni cast and 18 men to whom we gave out service award pins. It all happened because you showed up. This is the power of showing up.

Hey brothers! It is one week from now that we will all gather at Eta Psi in College Park for our ritual and celebration of our brotherhood and our alumni association’s 20 years. Everything is set and ready to go, and I would like to acknowledge the contributions and hard work of our province chapters Eta Psi for hosting, and to my beloved home chapter of Nu Psi for donating the use of their materials. This beautiful event which serves to unite us demands a sacrifice from everyone involved, and I am forever grateful. Alumni are more than some guys who gather to reminisce; we share the secret bond of ritual and brotherhood, and hopefully this event will demonstrate to the whole nationwide fraternity that “Once a Sinfonian, always a Sinfonian” is and always will be the truth.

This is a momentous occasion, and I am glad to be bringing us all together in celebration of all of the years in our brotherly family together! Let’s make it something special so that the entire fraternity steps up their game as a result. Onward and ever upward, my dearest brothers.

Yours in all things Phi, Mu, and Alpha,

Greetings, my brothers.

It is time to unveil the plans that your province governor Josh Smialek and I have been discussing. In light of the 20-year anniversary of the DC Area Alumni Association, I would like to celebrate this with a “20 Brothers for 20 Years” initiative. I would like to start a tradition of honoring brothers who are eligible to receive their 10-year, 25-year, or 50-year service pin who have not yet received one from their chapters with a ritual with an all-alumni cast. I am hoping this will set the standard for alumni associations throughout our fraternity and bring back to our associations exactly what we miss as a brotherhood and what makes us a family in the first place: the ritual.

So far, I know of three alumni that will be in this initial class of 20; I need more names. Please contact me directly either on FB Messenger or at my number at (703) 975-5075 to let me know if you are eligible. I will take a list on a first-come-first serve basis, but I must give preference to those eligible for 25- and 50-year pins. As this will be hopefully a recurring event, I will keep your names readily available for future ceremonies.

Finally, I need volunteers for a ritual cast. The only requirement I ask is that you are an alumnus in good standing and will learn your part by the end of January, which is approximately the association’s anniversary. I am currently reviewing the weekend of January 19-21 as our target date; I will also need help securing a location, and I would like that location ideally located in the greater DC area, and any collegiate chapters that fit may help by offering to be the host. Once again, contact me directly if you can be part of the cast.

It is time to make some fraternity history and approach our association with renewed vigor in the hope that we may set the tone and standard for what alumni associations can accomplish together. Let me hear from you!!

All hail!!

Dearest brothers,

In regard to the recent correspondence in several different online outlets available to our brothers, it seems we are at a crossroads. Following any pathway as we wont to do, leads us sometimes to places where a decision must be made, and in those times, we must sometimes strike a bold new direction for the greater good of all Sinfonians from the past, of present day, and for those yet to be initiated into our order.

Now is one of those times to take a new direction. In recent years, the value of our area alumni associations (AAAs) has been neglected in our order, and it is our own fault that we have not tended to the lights that should shine brightly from these beacons of loyalty to the ideal of life long membership in Sinfonia: “Once a Sinfonian, Always a Sinfonian.” No one person is to blame for this – as it is within a collective of brothers – it is every brother’s responsibility to hold our infrastructure accountable. Similarly, initiative to recognize alumni brothers that have been announced by the fraternity in recent years, while good intentioned have failed to meet their objectives.

I am currently working with our Province Governor on ways to address both issues with the hopes that it may be honed into a new standard for alumni and give us a reason to be active alumni and be proud of our membership in our honored order. If you feel so moved, message me if you are interested in helping in our efforts.

It is my full intention to stoke the fires that may have only a few embers left; with the right amount of inspiration for oxygen and the fuel source of our treasured memories of exalted experience, these fires can and will be rekindled. “Let us win or die,” says one of our songs of hope. I prefer to win, and may it be so for all of us. Onward and ever upward, my dearest brothers.

Fraternally and faithfully yours,
Christopher Everett Sexton
