"What weighs less than a button yet contributes nearly $20B to the crop production industry? The honey bee." 🐝 Author Tierney Monahan, a member of the MSB Class of 2022, wrote Beyond Honey to highlight the impact of bees on our society and share stories about their economic, entrepreneurial, and environmental impact. These stories show how these tiny creatures affect our lives for the good.
Tierney, a beekeeper herself, highlights the resiliency and innovation of people who have collaborated with bees.
At McDonough, Tierney is a Rural Opportunity Initiative Scholar and has been active within McDonough's Net Impact community. In her own words, "we have a role in preserving our world and the exhaustible and irreplaceable heritage that we have been given....the private sector must play a crucial role as a driver of development, balancing business objectives and local socioeconomic growth."
