We’re one of 54 BIG chapters located in the Washington, D.C., area. The chapter is named after a free African-American almanac author, astronomer, inventor, presidential advisor, and surveyor.
In 1791, was assigned to the Pierre L'Enfant team to survey Washington, D.C. He is considered to be the first African-American man of science.
Banneker said, “Never abandon your vision. Keep reaching to further your dreams.”

In recognition of Black History Month, we're hosting a virtual celebration featuring executive healthcare consultant and former presidential adviser Anton Gunn on Wednesday, Feb. 16 at 1pm EST.
Each year the Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH) establishes the national Black History Month theme. This year’s theme is Black Health and Wellness.

The 2021 Nominating Committee is seeking candidates for nomination to offices in the Benjamin Banneker Chapter for the term of January 1, 2022, through December 31, 2024 (Two Year Term). The offices for election are: • President • Recording Secretary • Correspondence Secretary
You may self-nominate or nominate a member for office. To be nominated, you must be in good standing with the Benjamin Banneker Chapter, meet the qualifications of the position and consent to being nominated and sign the Officer Agreement and Release Form.
All nominees will need to provide written consent (via email) of your acceptance of the nomination by 4:30 p.m. on November 04, 2021. Elections will take place from November 29, 2021 – December 13, 2021, via electronic ballot by 12:00 p.m. EST.
