A clinical rotation at a neurology rehabilitation center offers an IMG valuable exposure to interdisciplinary patient care, neurorehabilitation strategies, and longitudinal management of complex neurological conditions. It provides experience working with patients recovering from stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis, and other neurologic disorders while collaborating closely with physiatrists, neurologists, therapists, nurses, and social workers.
Beyond clinical knowledge, the rotation strengthens skills in patient communication, functional assessment, care coordination, and understanding the rehabilitation process from acute recovery through community reintegration. It also offers insight into the U.S. healthcare system, team-based medicine, and patient-centered care — all of which are highly valuable for residency training.
