Booster or 5 point harness? What do you think makes sense for YOUR situation?

Here’s a tip 💡 for using a car seat in grandma’s (or another caregiver’s) vehicle:

📱 RECORD them installing the car seat after you’ve shown them how to do it. That video will live on their phone as an easy reference whenever they need it.
🎥 also record how to harness/unharness and make adjustments

📆 SET REMINDERS for checking the car seat or booster fit for any out of sight, out of mind car seats. Does the harness need to be raised? Have they surpassed a height or weight limit?

It’s not the claw clip…

Lock 👏 that 👏 360 seat 👏

Even when it’s unoccupied, the seat should be in a locked position before driving 🚙

That’s how it was tested to hold up in a crash and how to know you won’t be hit with a (heavy) projectile in the event of one.

I like to always lock the seat RF or FF when I get baby out so it’s a habit. 🧠

Then I don’t have to remember to do something if I’m driving without baby (like this video!)

We talk a lot about installing a car seat correctly, but what happens after you buckle your child in?

If they’re uncomfortable, slouching, shifting around, or constantly trying to reposition themselves, that can make it harder to keep them properly positioned in the first place.

Not all cars make this easy 🚙

In some vehicles the lower anchors can be really deep in the seat bight (crease) and hard to access.

Using lower anchor guides so you can see what you’re doing (!!) and/or reclining the vehicle seat so you have a better angle is an easy solution 💡

Fun fact: federal regulations will improve lower anchor accessibility through an FMVSS update, but until then, here’s how to make a challenging vehicle easier to work with!

It’s tiiiiiime!
The best car seat sales of the year are just around the corner.
NOW is the time to plan if you need a car seat before springtime and choose what seat(s) will work for your family.

I’ll be sharing what seats are going to be on sale and what features might make the seat a great fit for your child, vehicle and budget (and what features might not!)

Target Trade-In 🎯 recycles old car seats (which is harder than it sounds!) and gives you a 20% off coupon (that STACKS!!) to use on car seats already on sale and other select baby gear

Bring in your car seat for trade in, drop it in the bin, scan the 20% off to your Target Circle App, and then shop car seat deals.

The trade in goes until 10/3, but the coupon is good until 10/17.
My advice? DO NOT WAIT. Seats sell out every trade in and don’t always restock. Trade in and purchase as close to the start of the sales as possible.

Does a car seat have to be replaced after a crash?

Sometimes, yes!
Sometimes, no!

If your car seat manufacturer recommends replacement after any crash there’s no checklist to follow. You just toss or ♻️ the car seat.

If your manufacturer follows NHTSA Minor Crash Criteria then you can use the above questions to determine if it’s safe to continue using.

Remember 🧠 you can’t predict a crash. Some crashes have multiple events (a frontal crash that then becomes a rollover, for example)
The manufacturer has knowledge of their product and testing and has determined what they feel is safest for you and your child.
