A Slovakian-born Jew, Man- ny Mittelman was 17 in 1942 when he was taken from his home to a N**i concentration camp in Poland. Three months later he was shipped to Auschwitz-Birchenau, the largest of all the death camps, where a million Jews died in the gas chambers.
