Привет! GURA Fall 2018 09/09/2018

Привет! GURA Fall 2018 -

Привет! GURA Fall 2018 GURA (rhymes with "ура!") is a club for those interested in Russian language, culture, and politics. We've got a wide array of events for a wide array of interests and the whole spectrum of language ability.  But first things first - our first meeting:

RIAC :: Vitaly Naumkin 02/27/2018

GURA was delighted to attend CERES' guest lecture yesterday" with Dr. Vitaly Naumkin, Chair of the Department of Regional Studies at the Faculty of World Politics at Moscow State University, Russia's leading expert on the Middle East who has collaborated closely with Russia's Foreign Ministry on Syria (ie, if you have a paper on Russia and the Middle East, @ this guy).

As Russia establishes a deeper foothold in Syria and conflict escalates in Eastern Ghouta, Dr. Naumkin's broad overview of Russian policy in the Middle East is valuable in understanding Russia's actions. You can find more information and links to his analysies here: http://russiancouncil.ru/en/vitaliy-naumkin/

From "What Awaits Syria?" (Sept, 2017)
"Today, almost all countries in the Middle East show interest in Russia’s involvement and view Moscow as the main partner capable of influencing the situation in the region...Vitaly Naumkin shares his views on the prospects of reconstruction in Syria, telling what Russia’s policy in the Middle East will be after the crisis is resolved."

RIAC :: Vitaly Naumkin Since 2005, Russian representative in the High Level Group established to bridge the gap in understanding between Western and Eastern civilizations.
