Last week, our scholars had an incredible opportunity to be part of the grand opening of the Go-Go Museum—a landmark celebration of D.C.’s rich musical culture! 🎤🔥One of our very own students had the honor of introducing Mayor Bowser at the event, representing Anacostia with pride and excellence. 👏🏾Looking ahead, we’re excited to explore a partnership with the Go-Go Museum that would allow our scholars to become youth tour guides, helping to educate the community about Go-Go’s impact and history. Stay tuned for more updates!

It’s week 2 of our Black History Month celebration. This week we are focusing on Love and Literacy. Be sure to join us on Wednesday from 5-7 pm for Literacy Night in the Media Center.
Black History Month at Anacostia High School
This February, Anacostia High School is honoring Black History Month with a series of engaging activities:
• Week 1: Daily Black History Facts shared during morning announcements.
• Week 2: Love & Literacy Week, celebrating African American authors.
• Week 3: HBCU Week—students and staff showcase pride by wearing HBCU or Greek organization apparel.
• Week 4: Spirit Week & Black Music & Food (BMF), featuring themed dress days, a cultural food experience, and an African drum performance.

🎯 Professional Development with a Swing! ⛳️
Yesterdays PD at Topgolf was an incredible experience that highlighted the strengths of our Anacosta High School community. We focused on showcasing the amazing work happening in our classrooms and the collaborative spirit that makes our school thrive.
Our team worked together to create brochures showcasing individual classes and another highlighting our phenomenal faculty and staff. This collaborative effort is building strong teacher relationships that will only grow stronger over time.
