This spring, participants connected with over 4,300 community members, students and professors across 52 U.S. college campuses, sharing Pakistan’s rich heritage and dispelling myths portrayed in popular media, underscoring the country's cultural and social diversity.

This spring, participants volunteered over 1,500 hours of service in their American host communities. “Both the U.S. and my home country deal with challenges like poverty and climate change, so doing community work in one country readies me to make change in another!”

A jam-packed Re-Entry Workshop featured several speakers including Julia Findlay, a Branch Chief Exchange Programs - U.S. Department of State, who provided participants a space to reflect on their leadership journeys and develop ways to use their new leadership skills to address community issues back home.

Participants received a warm welcome from Exchange Programs - U.S. Department of State's Teresa Mastrangelo and Alumni Nihal as our Welcome Workshop begins. Sessions challenged participants to think of how they will get involved in their host communities and reflect on their leadership goals. No trip to DC is complete without an opportunity to explore the monuments. Rounding off the night, participants strengthened their team building skills to learn creative movement with Step Afrika!

Global UGRAD-Pakistan participants have volunteered hundreds of hours in their U.S. communities in fall 2023 so far! Rabiya had a "rewarding and educational" experience helping to captain the Breast Cancer Awareness walk at Vermont State University Castleton Campus which raised funds for breast cancer research.
