From the Archives: In 2013, the tallest building in Flint, Michigan, came down in seconds.

The implosion of the 19-story Genesee Tower required seven weeks of preparation, 1,400 pounds of dynamite, 1,100 drilled holes and careful planning to protect the neighboring C.S. Mott Building — just 33 feet away.

Originally published in the March/April 2014 issue of DEMOLITION magazine, “Reinventing Flint” looks back at the project and the larger story of a city confronting decades of industrial decline and change.

Forgiveness might not be the first quality that comes to mind when you think about strong leadership. But what happens after someone makes a mistake or a team experiences conflict can have a lasting effect on the workplace.

In the latest post on Demo on Demand, Claudia St. John makes the case for forgiveness as a leadership skill — not as a substitute for accountability, but as a way to address problems without allowing resentment and blame to linger.

She also shares a practical framework leaders can use to work through conflict, determine what needs to change and decide how to move forward.
