Summer Camp 2026 at The Theatre Lab is here, and for the second year in a row, we’re welcoming our largest group of campers ever!

Over 600 young people across the Washington region, from rising 1st graders taking their first steps onto a stage, to teenagers embarking on our rigorous training institutes, will be coming to The Theatre Lab this summer for our nationally recognized drama programs.

Every session is designed to help campers explore as much of their creative imagination as possible: storytelling, character creation, improv, prop and costume design, and more. Our teens dive even deeper, developing advanced skills in scene study, vocal technique, ensemble acting, audition prep, and everything else they need to expand their range as artists.

One-third of these students are attending on a full or partial need-based scholarship made possible through our Send a Kid to Theatre Camp fund. For many of these young people, summer at The Theatre Lab isn’t just a way to fill time between school years. It’s a place where they find their voice, build lifelong friendships, and discover what it means to belong to something bigger than themselves. With help from our community, we’ll be awarding $175,000 in need-based scholarships this year through Send a Kid to Camp—link in bio to donate.

Welcome to all of our summer students, parents, faculty, staff and volunteers! We can't wait to have the best summer ever with you all!

Welcome to the Renaissance, DC! Set in the 1590s, SOMETHING ROTTEN! is a wildly entertaining musical farce that imagines the chaotic birth of the very first musical. Brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom are struggling playwrights desperate to write a hit in the long shadow of a certain Renaissance rock star known as “The Bard” (William Shakespeare!). Packed with clever wordplay, Shakespearean tropes, and laugh-out-loud surprises, Something Rotten! was nominated for 10 Tony Awards following its debut and is lauded as one of the funniest musical comedies ever written.

Brought to you by the same creative team behind last year’s rave production of HADESTOWN: TEEN EDITION at Atlas, SOMETHING ROTTEN! is an outrageously funny and joyously energetic kickoff to The Theatre Lab’s summer season.

🗓️ Dates & Times: July 9-11, 2026
📍 Location: Atlas Performing Arts Center (1333 H St NE Washington, DC 20002)
🎟️ Tickets: General: $20 | Students: $15

This production of Something Rotten! is proudly presented by The Theatre Lab’s renowned Musical Theatre Institute for Teens (MTIT). The Theatre Lab is DC’s largest independent drama school and works to make the artistic and the real-life benefits of theatre training accessible to all.
