New in , a quantum answer to the big question posed by Erwin Schrödinger more than 80 years ago, from Philip Kurian, Founding Director of the Quantum Biology Lab : What is life in relation to the cosmos? His group’s discovery of living systems processing information with architectures of UV-excited qubits supports a conjecture relating the computational capacity of carbon-based life in the entire history of Earth, to that of all matter in the observable universe. Dr. Kurian’s insights motivate state-of-the-art performance comparisons between superradiant biocomputers and contemporary quantum computers, and they provide additional signatures to scientists searching habitable exoplanets for the emergence of life.
