World English Tutor, LLC was founded 6 years ago and I got my first long-term contract 6 years ago TODAY! 🤯🤯.

For 6 years, I’ve gone from teaching clients out of my condo to walking all over Washington, DC working with clients at a variety of embassies & government agencies to getting my biggest contract to date with the US Food & Drug Administration!

Throughout the years, I’ve met with the most incredible men and women from over 75 different countries, transforming the way they communicate, participate and function using the English language in their respective contexts.

I’m grateful that 6 years later, in the middle of a global pandemic, I still have a business with a full client roster and another year as a federal contractor. I’m honored to be able to maintain 5+ year working relationships with some of my clients now. I learn from them as much as I hope they learn from me and I can’t wait to see where we go in the next 6 years!!

So much of our language is intertwined with our culture and so much of American culture is intertwined with African-American culture. The intersection of the two informs our language and language use and I would be doing my clients a complete disservice by not enlightening them to this important relationship.

Over the years of owning and operating World English Tutor, LLC, I’ve worked with clients from all over the world but this particular client changed my life and my world view. Through open and transparent conversations about each of our unique experiences as women entrepreneurs, she and I found so many parallels between our cultures despite being from countries on two opposite sides of the world (…and history at one point).

I’m grateful to be able to encounter individuals whose experiences are rich, deep and genuine. This woman was a survivor of the Pol Pot regime and despite having endured some of the most traumatic experiences most of us have only read about in history books, she has gone on to become a successful business owner, mom and loving wife to the Ambassador of Cambodia to the US.

𝔻𝕚𝕕 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕜𝕟𝕠𝕨 that after the brutal and widely televised murder of that protests demanding justice and the end of police brutality of Black Americans took place in every state in the US and tens of countries around the globe?

As a Black-owned company, responsible for the authentic and relevant language instruction of international professionals, we find it impossible to teach the American English language without tying in aspects of American culture which is largely influenced by African-American culture.

We pride ourselves on our ability to inform international adults about the significant contributions that Black people have made to the history, culture and economic advancement of the United States.

By doing this, our clients are prepared to better understand the outrage felt by Black people around the world when one of our own is unjustly murdered at the hands of those who are sworn to protect us.

We stand with and in solidarity of every person around the world who demands equal rights and opportunities for people of color.

Coming to us as an FDA contractor, this client was looking to improve his business speaking and writing skills.

Together with , Hezhen saw improvement in his presentation ex*****on and ability to respond to spontaneous questions. He ended sessions feeling far more confident than before having learned new vocabulary and idiomatic expressions for better fluidity and comprehensibility!

❝ I have been learning English since I was 10 years old. I have had more than 10 English teachers.

I would say Heather is my favorite and best English teacher given her teaching ability and personality.

🕷Halloween🕷 is one day away but we aren't the only ones who celebrate it!

Check out this video shared from a client of ours of Japanese people celebrating Halloween in Shibuya, Japan! He told us that thousands of young people dress up in costumes ranging from nurses, to SWAT team members, to military men/women to our favorite scary characters and gather in the popular city center to celebrate the international "holiday"!

Oh happy (Sun)day!! Another 5 ⭐️ rating from one of my amazing South Korean clients! From Seoul, he moved to Tokyo to work as a partner in a competitive patent law office and was offered the opportunity to open a branch here in the DMV!
