This week Early Childhood Assistant Principal Russell and Elementary Assistant Principal Bodner jointly read to Kindergartners – as part of the bridge from Kindergarten to 1st grade. Ms. Bodner is excited to greet all of these students on the 2nd floor/Elementary Division next year!

Yesterday we began celebrating this year’s 8th graders with our traditional clap-out — when 8th graders walk the hallways of ITDS, cheered on by all students and staff. We’re excited to celebrate this class and send them off to high school!

Ms. Ordóñez is passionate about teaching and she is amazing with students. She finds fun and engaging ways to teach Spanish to children of all ages. She is a team player and always has a positive attitude. Her classes are interactive and dynamic, and she really knows how to adapt to each age group. With younger children, she is playful and energetic, which keeps them engaged and helps them learn better. With older students, she becomes more structured while still making the classes enjoyable and effective. She truly has a special talent for teaching. And, she’s always fashionable and pleasant — even at 7:15am!

As we close out Mental Health Awareness Month, we are grateful for our mental health team here at ITDS — and for all of our educators who support the whole child by paying particular attention to students’ social-emotional wellness every day.

It’s been a busy week at ITDS! PK3 visited the Edgewood Community Farm to investigate insects; our student athletes were celebrated at our annual sports banquet; students showcased their dancing skills at the dance recital; and the staff/family soccer team maintained their winning streak over our students – though this year it was a close one!

PK3 Giraffes are exploring “What insects are in the community?” During today’s trip to , students explored the garden and saw what insects were there—and wondered why!
