📚 Celebrating the power of reading with Second Lady Usha Vance at the 2026 Reagan Institute Summit on Education.

Through her Summer Reading Challenge and Storytime Podcast, Ms. Vance is encouraging young readers across the country to build a lifelong habit of reading—and to discover the ideas, stories, and history found in books.

That mission carries a special meaning at the Reagan Institute. President Ronald Reagan understood that literacy was about more than learning to read. In 1986, he wrote that “literacy and real political freedom go hand in hand” and that our heritage of liberty and self-government depends on “a literate, informed citizenry.”

It’s up to us to encourage the next generation to read, learn, and engage with the stories and ideas that have shaped our country as an important part of carrying that knowledge forward.
