About Lowell School

Lowell School is an independent Pre-K to 8th grade school founded in 1965. We embrace a leading-edge, research-based curriculum intentionally designed to nurture the development of inquisitive, creative, analytical, and confident thinkers.

We actively encourage children to ask questions and search for solutions rather than wait for answers to be given to them. We emphasize critical thinking over rote learning, and we ask our students to apply what they learn in various disciplines and contexts. By gaining knowledge and skills through hands-on experiences and their own efforts, Lowell students make curiosity a habit of mind and develop the tenacity and desire to keep on learning.

At every age and stage, we reinforce the understanding that diversity promotes collaborative and intellectual skills that are essential for finding solutions and leading meaningful lives. In our curriculum, children explore their own identities and how diversity manifests itself within communities and cultures. Older students also examine cultural competency as a pathway to social equity and justice.

In short, we give our students the tools to become the next generation of compassionate leaders and creative problem solvers who will make a positive difference in the world.
