EXPAND YOUR VOCABULARY: RELATIONSHIPS

Notice that with all of these words, you can use the verb to be, for example:

Solo SOMOS conocidos (We're only acquaintances).
Somos novios desde la semana pasada (We're a couple since last week).
Nadie lo sabe, pero ellos son amantes (Nobody knows, but they're lovers).

Word of the day: DIVERTIDO (fun)

Meaning: Something or someone that is nice, pleasant, and puts you in a good mood or makes you feel entertained and happy.

Examples:

Bailar juntas es muy divertido (Dancing together is very fun).
Carolina es una persona muy divertida (Carolina is a very fun person).

Word of the day: CELOS (Jealousy)

Meaning: The emotion that someone feels when they think that their loved person feels love towards someone else, or when they feel that said person prefers someone else instead of them.

Examples:
Me dan muchos celos cuando estás con otros hombres (I get too jealous when you're with other men).
Rompimos porque ella siempre tenía celos (We broke up because she was always jealous).
Tienes que controlar tus celos o afectará la relación (You have to control your jealousy or it will affect the relationship).

This word is used with the following verbs:
SENTIR, DAR, TENER celos
CONTROLAR tus celos

Word of the day: IMITAR (Imitate)
Meaning: To copy the action or behavior of something or someone else. Act similarly to someone else.

Ejemplos:
A los niños les gusta imitar al maestro (Kids love to imitate the teacher).
La inteligencia artifical intenta imitar la inteligencia humana (Artificial intelligence tries to imitate human intelligence).
Mi hijo está imitando el mal comportamiento de sus amigos (My son is imitating his friends' bad behavior).

Word of the day: COBARDE (Coward)

Meaning: Someone that feels afraid of hard situations or that lacks the courage to do dangerous things or take risks.

Examples:

No quiero entrar a la casa embrujada, soy muy cobarde (I don't wanna get into the haunted house, I'm too coward)
¿¡Por qué no me dices la verdad!? ¡Eres un cobarde! (Why don't you tell me the truth? You're a coward!)
El amor no es para cobardes (Love is not for cowards).
Coraje el perro cobarde (Courage, the cowardly dog).

Word of the day: INSULTAR (Insult)

Meaning: to say bad words or direct expressions or gestures to someone in order to hurt them or offend them.

Examples:

Los niños no deben insultar (Kids shouldn't say bad words).
Tus palabras insultan mi orgullo (Your words hurt my ego).
Insulté a ese hombre y ahora quiere pelear (I insulted that man and now he wants to fight).

Word of the day: SOÑAR (dream)

Meaning: To imagine things or situations while sleeping. / To have future goals or ambitions.

Examples:
Ayer soñé que gané la loteria (Yesterday I dreamed that I won the lottery).
Sueño con ir a Disneylandia (I dream of going to Disneyland).
Nunca dejes de soñar (Never stop dreaming).

Word of the day: MANIFESTACIÓN (Demonstration)
Meaning: Public reunion, generally outdoors, in which the people claim something or they express their opinion about something.

Example:
Los activistas están haciendo una manifestación por le medio ambiente.
(Activists are making a demonstration for the environment. )

Word of the day: VENGANZA (Revenge)

Meaning: To hurt someone as a punishment because they hurt you before, in order to feel better and satisfied. To take justice into one's own hands.

Examples:

Necesito cobrar venganza para ser feliz (I need revenge to be happy).
No quiero disculpas, quiere venganza (I don't want an apology, I want revenge).
La venganza nunca es buena, mata el alma y la envenena (Revenge is never good, kills your sould and poisons it).
