Dear Bruce-Monroe at Park View Community,

Many of you may remember supporting Ms. Lesly Hernandez and her family during a previous fundraiser, where our community came together and raised nearly $5,000 to help secure legal representation as they faced deportation proceedings. Because of that support—and the dedication of her legal team—there has been meaningful progress. The eldest child’s deportation proceedings were successfully overturned, and he is now on a pathway toward citizenship.

However, the fight is not over.

Ms. Hernandez’s two younger children still require ongoing legal assistance to continue their cases. One is a proud graduate of Bruce-Monroe at Park View, and the other is currently enrolled in the 3rd grade. A new opportunity has emerged to file their cases in Superior Court rather than immigration court due to their age status—an important step that could significantly strengthen their path to stability. Unfortunately, this process involves substantial filing fees and extended legal representation costs that the family cannot manage alone.

Ms. Hernandez is a single mother working two jobs to support her three children. She continues to do everything possible to provide stability, education, and opportunity for them, but the financial burden of this legal process is overwhelming.

We are once again asking our school community to come together in support of this family. Every contribution—no matter the amount—will go directly toward legal fees to help protect these children’s ability to remain in the only community and school system they know.

The Hernandez children are part of our school family. They are students, classmates, and friends. With your help, they can continue their education and grow in a safe, supportive environment.
