Happy Month! The work that our American University Center for Diversity & Inclusion does is at the heart of everything at American University, which is ranked the #1 Best College for LGBTQIA+ Students in Each State by BestColleges (in partnership with the Campus Pride Index). American University prides itself in being an affirming place for the LGBTQIA+ community and its allies 🏳️‍🌈

CDI at AU is committed to providing students with multicultural, intersectional identities with a space to be their authentic selves. In addition to multicultural and first-generation college student programming, CDI also conducts LGBTQIA specific programs throughout the course of the academic year. Some of our past events have included:

👉 Workshops on understanding LGBTQ+ identities

👉 Affinity group lunches and mixers (like Bisexual Chat and Chew)

👉 Community building through art and self-expression

👉 On- and off-campus LGBTQ+ volunteer opportunities

: “Pride Month is a time for self-affirmation, dignity, equality and visibility of LGBTQIA+ people. It is also a time for education, awareness and activism against homophobia and discrimination.”
