Our Year 4 explorers swapped the classroom for the jungle on Monday as they dived into their IPC topic 'Vanishing Rainforests' with a visit to the National Zoo! ๐ฆฅ๐
It was great to see the lively, curious animalsโฆ and the ones in the enclosure werenโt bad either! ๐๐ณ

Over the half term break, 20 of our BISW students traveled to NAIMUN, the largest Model United Nations conference in North America, with over 3,300 delegates from around the world! ๐๐ผ
Our students showcased their incredible diplomacy, critical thinking, and teamwork on this highly competitive stage โ and weโre thrilled to share that 3 of our students brought home awards! ๐

This morning, primary students celebrated the culmination of Black History Month, showcasing their learning during assembly. Led by our Student Ambassadors, classes presented poems, art, songs, and dances inspired by notable Black figures. It was a wonderful way to celebrate the learning that has taken place and to recognize the contributions of Black individuals to society.

Nursery set off on an exciting adventure to Little Towns to launch their When I Grow Up topic! This immersive experience gave our young learners the chance to step into different roles and bring their big dreams to life. From bravely putting out fires as firefighters to spinning tracks as DJs, they explored a world of possibilities through creativity, teamwork, and play. It was a day filled with excitement, imagination, and endless curiosity! ๐๐ถโจ

to our amazing ski trip in Vermont! โท๏ธ๐๏ธ Our BISW students had a blast hitting the slopes and making unforgettable memories. Wishing everyone a fantastic term breakโwherever your adventures take you! โจ
Our second day at the Performing Arts Festival was full of energy and creativity! Students are thriving in Houston at our two incredible NAE schools.
Rehearsals at The Village School showcased pop jazz, festival orchestra, and dance, while the students at the BISH focused on musical theatre and acting. Workshops on modern arts, physical theatre, and dance, led by brilliant guest artists, pushed creativity to new heights.
Students have demonstrated outstanding teamwork, active listening, and unwavering support for one another as they gear up for Saturday's showcase.

๐จ๐ค Celebrating Black History Month through creativity! Inspired by the amazing work of African American artist and Washingtonian Sam Gilliam, our students explored his unique technique of folding and draping canvases before spraying them with paint. The results? Stunning art and some very messy hands! ๐๏ธโจ

๐ Cozy corners and captivating stories! During todayโs reading of If I Had a Sleepy Sloth, our library transformed into a space for curiosity, imagination, and connection. This is where a love for learning grows! ๐ฆฅโจ

๐ Kindness in Action! ๐
As part of Kindness Week, our Nursery class surprised our cafeteria manager with a heartfelt thank-you! The children presented her with a beautiful hand-painted poster to show their appreciation for all the healthy, delicious meals she lovingly prepares for us every day. ๐๐ฅช๐ฉโ๐ณ
A big round of applause for our little artists and their thoughtful gesture! ๐โจ

Young Musicians of BISW!
We are just two short weeks away from the deadline for submitting your performance or composition for the Virtual Young Musician of the Year Competition! Remember, you just need to submit a video (5 minutes max) of your performance, whether you are playing or singing by yourself or in a group. All submissions are welcomed and encouraged! Don't forget, there is also a composition category for all ages and a music production category for ages 11 and above, so all you young composers and producers make sure to send in your musical creations! Winners of the global competition will earn a special certificate and a gold Global Campus Committed pin badge. "Best in Show" winners will receive a Masterclass experience with a Juilliard expert for themselves and their classmates! The deadline for all submissions is February 14th 2025, don't miss it!

As part of Kindness Week, our Year 6 students teamed up with Early Years buddies to create beautiful friendship bracelets! ๐๐ It was a heartwarming experience filled with creativity, laughter, and new friendships. They also had a fantastic time exploring the learning environment and playing together. ๐ฟ๐จ๐โโ๏ธ
A small act of kindness can go a long way, and today was a perfect reminder of the power of connection. ๐ค๐ซ

Our students made the most of the winter wonderland today, turning the playground into a scene straight out of a storybook! From snowball fun to building frosty friends, the excitement was contagious. What a magical way to kick off the first day of term at BISW! ๐ทโ๏ธโ๏ธ

After todayโs snow day, BISW is excited to officially welcome our students back to school for the start of term two on Wednesday 8 January. See you tomorrow, Lions!
