We recently invited 360+ alumnae back home, and sisterhood flourished!

Graduates from as early as 2004 and as recent as 2025 showed up, and what followed was something we have been dreaming about from the moment we started planning our first reunion event for our entire alumnae community.

Women who had never met swapped phone numbers after talking about career pathways and next steps. Recent graduates sought advice from those who had been out in the world longer. Alumnae asked how they could come back and support the girls still in our classrooms. In the middle of all of it, we got to celebrate the extraordinary things our graduates are doing.

Thank you to the alumnae committee who helped us plan this incredible gathering and every single WSG graduate who attended!

WSG had two very special visitors, Jori Kates, award-winning Director and Producer, and Leland Melvin, celebrated astronaut, engineer, author, speaker, educator, and STEM advocate.

Ms. Kates and Mr. Melvin visited WSG as judges for the STEMbiotic Communities STEM video challenge. Four WSG students participated in the challenge, collaborating to conceptualize, script, record, and edit a short video about the integrated technology that impacts their day-to-day life in our new campus. Our students presented their video to the school community and received feedback from the judges.

Ms. Kates and Mr. Melvin also shared about their careers, their interest in STEM and storytelling, and how they have applied their skills throughout their lives.

Do we have some future astronauts in our classrooms 👀?

We wrapped up our 2025-26 Leadership Series with special guest Chantess Robinson, M.A.!

Chantess shared her journey into public service - pursuing her undergraduate studies in Communications at Salisbury University and a graduate degree at American University while also making her mark through internships (including the NAACP) and work on political campaigns.

Now, Chantess is a mentor and guide to high school students in the US Senate Page Program, helping participants adjust to life on the Hill, stay on top of their school work, and explore their own talents and passions.

Students had lots of questions and the conversation was wide ranging: Imposter Syndrome, how to identify your strengths, what makes a good mentor, and how students in her program survive without their cell phones. Most importantly, Chantess reminded our students to be kind to themselves, and to never engage in negative self-talk.

Thank you Chantess!

Tomorrow is our Monthly Giving Day! But before we get there, we want you to meet one more person who's already in the Savannah Street Society. Kathy has been giving monthly since 2024. She didn't join because of a campaign. She joined because, in her words, “As a former WSG staff member, I am well aware of the importance of being dedicated on a consistent basis to the meaningful and lasting education of young girls. Seeing our graduates go on to lead purposeful lives is reason enough to provide WSG with a dependable, ongoing gift. Monthly giving is an easy way to be faithful to this mission!” That's what this community is: people who show up the way our school shows up for its students.

Tomorrow is our big Day of Giving, and we’re asking our community to help us reach 20 new members. Are you ready to join them?

Meet Ryan. 📚 In 3rd grade, Ryan was a shy and quiet student, trying to find her voice. Now, as an 8th grader, she’s happy to be a Big Sister to a fifth grader, and is eyeing a future where she can continue developing her leadership and mentoring skills. Her journey isn't a one-time event; it’s a years-long journey. Monthly giving ensures that at every step of a girl’s journey, she has the tools and resources she needs. That's what the Savannah Street Society funds. This Friday, May 15, you can be one of the steady hands supporting her. Monthly giving starts at $15. 👇

Steady hands. 👐Meghan has been a Savannah Street Society member since 2019. When asked why she gives monthly, Meghan said it’s the convenience of not having to remember to give. As a wife and busy mom of a young child, she doesn’t always have the time to stay on top of giving opportunities, saying, “I don’t want to miss an opportunity to donate.” That’s what we mean when we say steady hands support strong girls. Join them this Friday, May 15. Link in bio →

Thank you for visiting last month! Our students learned all about the wolf population in Yellowstone National Park and how they impact the entire ecosystem. They also heard about conservation and protection efforts taking place through the Yellowstone Wolf Project. 🐺

Hands on experiences like this help students imagine future careers in conservation and natural sciences, and expand their understanding of how human activity can impact wildlife.
