The last day of school for Friendship Public Charter Schools is Tuesday, June 16. Students will be dismissed on a half-day schedule, while staff will remain in the building for a full workday.

As we prepare to close out another wonderful school year, be sure to mark your calendars and celebrate all that our scholars have accomplished this year!

Early Voting starts Monday!

Early voting for the DC primary starts tomorrow, Monday, June 8. Any Early Vote Center in DC. 8:30am to 7pm. Through June 14. Not registered? Same-day registration available. You do not have to wait until June 16. Go this week. dcboe.org.

"Policy made without accounting for that history is not neutral. It is, whether intended or not, policy that protects the people who most benefited from that history and asks the people most harmed by it to accept the consequences again."

Friendship Public Charter School CEO Pat Brantley's latest CharterFolk essay is a timely reminder as the DC Council considers the FY27 budget. The students who attend DC public charter schools are not abstract budget numbers. They are the children and families Pat describes throughout her articleโ€”families seeking access to opportunity in communities that have experienced generations of disinvestment.

When public charter school students receive less funding than their peers, the impact is not felt equally across the city. It falls most heavily on the communities that have historically had the least access to educational opportunity.

The DC Council has a choice in the days ahead: move us closer to educational equity, or continue funding disparities that leave thousands of students behind.
