The Alternative Dispute Resolution Honor Society proudly presents its new logo!
⚖️✨⚖️✨⚖️✨⚖️✨⚖️
In order to better represent the true face of ADRHS, we designed this logo with several things in mind.
1. The person at the center of the logo represents several things:
• We are not beholden to a court, but to each other. ADRHS focuses on the people who undertake negotiation, mediation, and arbitration proceedings.
• The figure at the center is a woman, harking back to the founders of WCL.
• This figure originally represented Lady Justice, and wore a blindfold. She traditionally signified the impartiality of the legal justice system. However, after hearing from some of our members, we decided to take off the blindfold. As our legal system has shown, time and time again, justice is not impartial. Furthermore, we wanted to be sensitive to the vision-impaired community when it came to representing our newest figurehead. As such, our figurehead takes inspiration from the Roman representation of Justice, Iustitia, whose eyes were uncovered.
• Iustitia's toga bears the stars of the U.S. flag, to symbolize that ADRHS is a part of the American University.
2. The scales are as much a focus of our new logo as Iustitia. They are nearly even because much of what ADRHS does requires give and take, resulting in balance.
3. The sword in the image represents the arbitral forum, which can be as adversarial as the U.S. court system.
4. Behind Iustitia is the world map. ADR methods are used around the world, not limited by borders and boundaries. ADRHS propels our members around the globe to develop a transnationa
