As we wrap up another school year and prepare to graduate our seniors tomorrow, watch this CCPCS Time Machine magic! PreK students from the Classes of 2039 & 2040 walk in, and the Class of 2026 walk out as seniors. โจ๐โ Some of these seniors have literally walked these halls since their Lower School days!
From tiny footsteps to confidence in caps and gowns โ this one hits right in the feelings. ๐๐
P.S. - How adorable is the hug between cousins Iliana, Senior, and Kataleya, PreK, at the end? ๐ฅน

Did you know DC charter students could receive $2,000 less per student next year? On June 9 the DC Council casts its first budget vote โ and your voice matters. If youโre a Capital City family, student, alum, staff member, or supporter, send a quick, genuine note to your DC Ward or AtโLarge Councilmember: โPlease close the $2,000 charter school funding gap in the FY27 budget before the June 9 vote. Every public school student in DC deserves equal support.โ

We are now featuring Lola, who is another Capital City senior heading to where she plans to study Biology!
Lola joined Capital City her freshman year, and has a sister who graduated with the Capital City Class of 2022 โ Reyna.ย
She said the two community values that inspire her the most: Integrity and Self-Discipline. โI look at them as a package deal,โ Lola shared. โYou canโt be an honest person without having a little bit of discipline to hold yourself accountable."ย

What a night! ๐โจ Our Lower School Literacy Night brought families, students, and staff together for books, crafts, and BIG smiles. Students took part in a read-aloud of "A Hero Looks Like You" from author (and brother of Literacy Specialist Dr. Mbalia!) Kwame Mbalia. Participants received books and bookmarks to take home, made hero capes, played sentence dominoes, and crafted letter bracelets.
Thank you to all of the staff who made this event possible! ๐๐
P.S. โ Capital City was recently awarded a Comprehensive Literacy State Development (CLSD) four-grant, $4-million grant through the Office of the State Superintendent to provide high-quality literacy coaching and training for our Kindergarten-5th grade teachers and staff. ๐

Today, we want you to meet Elizabeth! She has been at Capital City for 10 years โ since 3rd grade! Next year, she will attend Trinity Washington University to study Biology. Elizabeth has an older sibling, Capital City Class of 2023 alum Madelin, and a younger sister, Vanessa, currently in 3rd grade.
โCollege is extremely expensive,โ shared Elizabeth. โKnowing that the school Iโve been at for so long is willing to support us with the Community Values Scholarship makes me feel really great.โ
