So this morning TIIF Director was at the farm with his family applying fertilizer mumataba (maize field) ...then he decided to intentionally involve his 14 months old son in an activity which involved scooping, pouring, digging and siftingsand. This activity is good for him and other children because it enhaces scientific learning, physical development, and social interactions.

Additionally, this activity ensures that children are adequately prepared for a lifetime of writing as sand strengthens their fingers and teaches fine motor skills and hand- eye coordination.

You don't need to have expensive toys to introduce primary (unconscious) learning through play to your children/pupils.

Remember that play is the foundation of childhood development in terms of language, emotional intelligence and regulation, creativity, and intellectual reasoning.
