We wanted to understand the impact Global Fund for Children’s support has on young leaders - so we asked them. And we’re not just talking about the financial support. We mean everything that comes alongside it: mentorship, networking opportunities, training, skills development, and so much more.

Because moving money into the hands of young leaders is just the beginning. Turning big ideas into lasting change takes more than a grant. It requires the right opportunities, connections and tailored support to help young people thrive. 🤝

Why should funders invest directly in individual young people? Because it’s young people’s futures at stake

Suddenly, young people are recognized as the experts and changemakers they already are. Finally, they have the resources, agency, and freedom to turn their ideas into action, on their own terms.

Yet too many funders still see investing directly in young people as too risky, or struggle to trust them to lead.

➡️ At Global Fund for Children, we’ve spent the past five years challenging that thinking by funding young people directly around the world. We’ve learned how to mitigate risks, provide support where it’s needed, and most importantly, we’ve seen what becomes possible when young people have the resources and trust they need to lead change.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been looking at what it takes to end violence against children — from the scale of the challenge to what effective prevention can look like.

📣We’ve been building towards a bigger question: what needs to change to put youth and community-led organizations at the center of these efforts?

What does it really take to support youth-led change? According to our Co-CEO, , it starts with something simple: listening to young people.

But listening isn’t just hearing what young people have to say and then carrying on as planned. It means taking their hopes, ideas, and visions for the future seriously. It means understanding the barriers standing in their way and then taking action to help remove them.

At Global Fund for Children, we’re proud to learn from young people and create space for their voices to be heard by the adults, funders, and decision-makers around them. Because young people don’t just need a seat at the table. They need the power to shape what happens next.
