Join us on June 6 at 7 PM for a special evening celebrating the dedication of a new Steinway Model D Concert Grand Piano in Lang Recital Hall at our NW Campus.

For nearly 30 years, Levine has proudly been an all-Steinway school, the only community music school in the country with this distinction. Thanks to the generosity of Jane Lang and the Eugene M. Lang Foundation, this remarkable instrument will support generations of students, faculty, guest artists, and audiences.

The evening will feature performances by Levine faculty and students, offering a great opportunity to experience the new piano in concert.

Last month, we were proud to host the 2026 Misbin Family Memorial Chamber Music Competition in partnership with Washington Performing Arts, a longstanding tradition that celebrates collaboration, creativity, and the growth of artists across the DC area 🎶

From emerging student ensembles to accomplished adult amateur musicians, each group brought artistry, dedication, and connection to the stage through thoughtful and inspiring performances.

A huge shoutout to all of our finalists, their extraordinary teachers and coaches, and a special congratulations to this year’s first-place winners across all divisions: Nonchalant Tarantulas, Blair String Quartet, Huntington Sextet, and Misbin Family Memorial Award recipient Indulo Duo.

We are deeply grateful to this year’s judges, Miriam Friedman, Dr. Lester Green, and Jillian Chioma Uzuegbu, as well as everyone behind the scenes who helped make this competition possible.

✨ Celebrate 50 years of extraordinary music-making with us at Levine’s 50th Anniversary Student Showcase Concert on Saturday, May 30 at 7 PM!

Join us for an inspiring evening honoring the artistry, dedication, and creativity of Levine students, featuring the Grand Prize winners of our Cogen Concerto Competition performing alongside an orchestra of Levine faculty and students.

🎹 Fourteen-year-old pianist Neel Perdue, a student of Martin Labazevitch, will perform Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 3 — a bold, playful, and technically dazzling work Neel describes as “grotesque” in the best possible way. He is especially excited for the audience to hear one of the concerto’s unusual compositional challenges: a minute-long piano section written entirely on the white keys.

🎶 Fifteen-year-old bassoonist Chloe Robertson, a student of Jimmy Ren, will perform the first movement of Weber’s Bassoon Concerto. Having studied bassoon for only three and a half years, Chloe brings both remarkable talent and joyful energy to the stage. She especially loves the contrast between the concerto’s spirited march-like moments and its lyrical, operatic lines.
