Earlier this month, JSN’s Jen LaMaster, Executive Director, and Kristin Ross Cully, Director of Educational Inquiry, joined the invitation-only Ignatian AI conference at Fordham University aimed at discerning how to engage with AI in Jesuit education and beyond. The conference brought together roughly 200 Jesuits and Jesuit-educated scholars from Jesuit universities and high schools, industry experts, members of the Roman Curia, and educational leaders from more than a dozen countries.

During the convening, Dr. Cully led an insightful panel conversation titled “AI and Its Impact on Youth in Secondary Education” with Jim Bopp, Principal of Brophy College Preparatory, Rinat Levy Cohen, Associate Dean at Fairfield College Preparatory School, Gisselle Rodiles ‘28, Cristo Rey High School (NYC), and Matthew Santos ‘27, Fordham Preparatory School who reflected on AI’s influence in their learning and lives.

This week, JSN hosted an Ignatian Global Scholars (IGS) Facilitators seminar in St. Louis, MO. The IGS Certificate Program is a two-year formation pathway that invites high school students to deepen their understanding of themselves and their place in the world as Ignatian global citizens. During the seminar, facilitators discussed establishing, launching, developing, and implementing IGS programs in their schools.

Mission leaders from across the JSN gathered in Detroit last week for their own formation and prayer as well as learning, co-creating, and idea-sharing. Wednesday featured a hope-filled and in-depth exploration of how using spiritual conversation in Jesuit schools can help build up a synodal Church led by Dr. Maureen O’Connell of CENTERS (Catholic Education Network to Enact and Resource Synodality). Thursday, the group began working with the new Mission Formation Framework for New Colleagues and discussed current ways and emerging possibilities to share the Spiritual Exercises in our schools. The event concluded with Mass and tour at Loyola High School followed by dinner at University of Detroit Jesuit High School and Academy.

Earlier this week, our team wrapped up two collaborative days in DC filled with program planning, spiritual conversation, shared meals, and mapping out an exciting year ahead! During our time together, JCCU president Fr. Brian Paulson, S.J. held a missioning ceremony to formally send forth, bless, and empower Jen LaMaster as she steps into her new leadership role as JSN Executive Director and JCCU Secretary for Pre-secondary and Secondary Education.

Congratulations, Moroti Adegboyega (St. Bonaventure's College '27) on this huge accomplishment in global ecology!

Congratulation to Grade 12 student Moroti Adegboyega '27, who has won the Stockholm Junior Water Prize 2026 for Ecoferroquatics his platform that uses AI and magnets to selectively remove plastic from water. Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden presented the prestigious award during a ceremony at Stockholm City Hall as part of World Water Week.
