So sorry to report the passing of our beloved Prof 👨🏫 Lucas who, I’m sure many of you have had the pleasure of meeting. May he RIP
wishes to extend its heartfelt and deepest sympathies and condolences to the family of Dr. Phillip Wayne Lucas, LICSW, LCSW, ACSW, who passed away Aug 31. He was 62. A consultant, trainer and psychotherapist with more than 30 years of direct practice and administrative experience, Dr. Lucas was also an Adjunct Associate Professor Howard University School of Social Work; an Adjunct Professor Trinity Washington University DC School of Education Clinical Counseling program and The George Washington University School of Public Health. He was a clinical social worker in the District of Columbia and Florida. A beloved professor, Dr. Lucas was also the 2011 recipient of the Educator of the Year Award from the National Association of Social Workers, D.C. Metro Chapter. He was also a Lifetime Achievement Award recipient. He was passionate about helping individuals, groups and families impacted by loss and trauma and about educating helpers on the long reaching impact of loss.
