Our scholars do the math, and then take it one step further by presenting their work to the class.

Part of developing well-rounded, successful leaders is teaching them to share and defend their work with poise and confidence. Watching our students stand up and own their learning is one of the most rewarding things we get to witness, and it’s a skill that will follow them for the rest of their working lives. πŸ’™

A DC Scholars education is built on three pillars and every decision we make traces back to one of them. πŸ’™

Academic Knowledge and Skills: Our scholars receive rigorous academic instruction supplemented by research-based small group interventions and high-impact tutoring designed to accelerate growth for every individual student.

Individual Passions: True scholars are well-rounded. Our students explore art, dance, P.E., Spanish, athletics, chess, biking, gardening, and field trips that help them discover what lights them up.

Community Mindedness: As a PreK-8 community school, DC Scholars builds young people in a caring, close-knit environment. Daily social-emotional learning lessons develop the emotional intelligence and collaboration skills that stay with our scholars for life.

Three pillars. One community. πŸ’™

Our youngest scholars are building the foundations for a lifetime of learning. πŸ’™

From writing their names and counting to sharing ideas and discovering phonics, every day brings new milestonesβ€”and there's nothing quite like watching their confidence grow.

We have a few new families following, so it is time for an introduction! πŸ‘‹πŸ’™

DC Scholars opened in 2012 as a public charter school in Ward 7 with one belief: every scholar can and will achieve academic success. Today we serve grades PreK3 through 8, pairing rigorous instruction with a joyful school community that develops students with the knowledge, passions, and community-mindedness to thrive in an ever-changing world.

Welcome, new scholars and prospective families. We are so excited to have you here. πŸ’™

Our summer scholars have spent these past weeks reading, essay writing, and learning the skills that will carry them into a strong fall. πŸ’™

The energy and focus they bring to campus every day is an inspiration to us all. We are so proud of each of them.
