Come As You Are 💕

At Bhakti Yoga DC, yoga is more than movement — it is a path of connection, transformation, and devotion. Whether you are stepping onto the mat for the first time or continuing a lifelong journey, you’ll find a community that welcomes you exactly where you are.

We believe true yoga unites the physical and the spiritual. Our classes are designed to strengthen the body, steady the mind, and open the heart — offering both challenge and support along the way. Here, practice becomes a way to grow not just in postures, but in awareness, compassion, and joy.

We hold six core pillars of practice, each offering its own doorway into transformation:
• Yoga Asana — movement, strength, balance, and creativity in the body.
• Pranayama — breathwork to calm, energize, and center the mind.
• Meditation — cultivating inner stillness and clarity.
• Kirtan — the joyful practice of sacred chanting in community.
• Satsang — gathering in truth for wisdom, conversation, and connection.
• Spiritual Education — study and reflection on yoga philosophy and tradition.

Together, these practices form a holistic path: grounding in the physical, expanding through the spiritual, and uniting in the heart.

Art of Sequencing: Creating Dynamic, Fluid Mandala Flows with Gopi & Rob Hess

Mandalas are circular, fluid, dynamic sequences that help break down old neurological patterns in both the mind and body. These sequences use repetition and directionality to re-pattern movement, develop new coordination, and build communication between the right and left sides of the brain by requiring practitioners to cross the midline.

This 25-hour advanced sequencing module explores the healing potential of circular movement. When we don’t regularly cross the midline, the left and right hemispheres of the brain tend to work in isolation. Mandala flows engage both hemispheres through midline crossing, stimulating the cerebral cortex and strengthening neural pathways that coordinate movement, balance, and learning.
We live in a linear society—but circular movement shifts our perspective. It helps us experience the body and space not from a straight path, but from a 360-degree awareness.

As you train your body and mind in these new movement patterns and learn to guide others through circular sequencing, you’ll discover a powerful, transformative breakthrough—one that is just as playful as it is profound.

This is one you won't want to miss!

Dying to live

I am praying for my fiancé to live—he is fighting for his life. At the same time, my father has had a heart attack, and I find myself praying that he dies. How strange this feels. What is living, and what is dying? My father is 87 years old. He has dementia. He has been a narcissist all my life, and because of that, his unconsciousness caused deep pain and abuse within our family and beyond....
