In celebration of AANHPI Heritage Month, GSP is proud to spotlight Angela Lam Nguyen (C'24), a proud GSP alumna whose passion for education and advocacy continues to make an impact beyond the Hilltop.

Reflecting on her Georgetown experience, Angela shares:

"My AAPI identity guided my Georgetown experience both in academics and extracurriculars. I spent my time at Georgetown helping to advocate for Asian American Studies and an AAPI affinity space because I cared about the broader AAPI community and validating the experiences and lives of AAPI students on campus."

From advocating for AAPI representation on campus to building community through cultural organizations and educational equity work, Angela's journey is a testament to the power of embracing identity and creating space for others to do the same.

We are proud to celebrate Angela and the many AANHPI GSPers whose cultures and leadership continue to strengthen our community.

A proud GSP alum, Community Scholar, former President of Club Filipino, dancer, artist, and optometrist, Jacquey's journey reflects the many ways our identities shape who we are and how we serve others.

Reflecting on her Filipino-American identity, Jacquey shares:

"My identity existed because I existed, and my Filipino-American heritage shines through regardless of what I do."

From leading cultural organizations and performing on Georgetown's stages to becoming a low vision specialist and advocate for accessible healthcare, Jacquey continues to make an impact through leadership, service, and community.

Happy senior week! Check out this spotlight on GSP senior, future Fulbright scholar, and former FDA Robert Valero (SFS’26)!

Over the last four years, Robert has been able to find a deeper connection to his roots—from studying migration at the U.S.-Mexico border and interning in Mexico City, to joining Ballet Folklorico and celebrating Día de los Mu***os on the Hilltop.

Robert’s journey didn’t stop at his own culture; he’s used his passion for language to empower others through the DC Schools Project and is heading to Indonesia this fall to teach English through the Fulbright Program! We are so inspired by how Robert has built community here and how he plans to pay it forward to future Hoyas.

Congratulations on an incredible four years, Robert! Your dedication to bridging cultures is truly world-changing. 🌎✨

Happy senior week! Check out this spotlight on GSP senior, and beloved FDA, Yunji Yun (C'26)! When Yunji arrived in the U.S. at 11 years old speaking no English, she never expected she would leave Georgetown with a 76-page hand-designed food magazine as her senior thesis. Yunji's project traces the rise of Korean food in America through cookbooks, family recipes, and her own story of identity, immigration, and the love language she shares with her mother and grandmother: food. We love hearing about how our students found their passion along the way and we are so proud to celebrate Yunji's story!

Thanks for reminding us that where you come from is always worth writing about, Yunji. 🍜🩷

As our seniors head into their final days on campus, we wanted to share recent features of GSP Grads who took unexpected paths to where they are today! Head to the link in our bio to read the full article.

Meet Michael Sobalvarro (C'16, M'29): GSP alum, English major, and current medical student at Georgetown's School of Medicine. Michael's path wasn't traditional, and that's exactly the point. He went from dissecting novels to diagnosing patients, and he says it's the same skill. In his own words: "The most important stories are often the ones that go untold, and medicine is full of those." We are proud to celebrate Michael's story and the healer he is becoming. 📖🩺

Meet Danyel Semple (C'15): GSP alum, sociology major, and VP of Business and Legal Affairs at Interscope Records. From navigating Georgetown's campus as a scholar to handling deals for artists like Billie Eilish and Kendrick Lamar, Danyel has carried the Hilltop with her every step of the way. She credits GSP, the Sociology Department, and her Film and Media Studies minor for shaping who she is today. We are proud to celebrate Danyel's story and the impact she continues to make in the entertainment world. ⚖️🎶

Happy senior week! Check out this spotlight on GSP senior, Elijah Ward (C'26), a first-generation college student (soon to be graduate!) who has studied abroad four times across Ecuador, Spain, Mexico, and Chile. When Elijah arrived at Georgetown, he had never been on a plane. With GSP's community, scholarships, and support, he found the confidence to go, and he's already holding info sessions to make sure the next GSP student knows they can do it too. We are proud to celebrate Elijah's story and the doors he is opening for those who come after him. ✈️🌍
