Happy LGBTQ+ History Month! In 1994, Rodney Wilson, a high school teacher from Missouri, thought there should be a month dedicated to the celebration and teaching of Q***r History! He gathered other teachers and community leaders together to begin planning the month. They selected October because public schools are in session and Coming Out Day occurs during the month of October (October 11th).

LGBTQ+ History Month was endorsed by GLAAD, the Human Rights Campaign, the National Gay and Le***an Task Force, the National Education Association, and other organizations.

Only 5 years ago, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, sat on a court that made a decision about marriage.
Last night, people from around the DMV area gathered at that same court to honor the and thank her for her years of fighting.

She was an American hero, a pioneer, and a voice for the marginalized. A champion of women’s and LGBTQ rights. She never stopped fighting, and for that we are forever changed and forever grateful.

Thank you Ruth Bader Ginsburg, rest in power.
