Who doesn’t love the checkerboard?! After completing a few problems, we decided to have fun putting the bead bars in numerical order! It made a fun multicolored pyramid!
The most established Montessori school in DC, serving children from 18 months to grade 6.

There are rights we have today that had to be fought for by those that came before us. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and many others fought tirelessly to change systems so that everyone could vote, have fairness in job wages, equality in education, and end segregation.
There are great benefits to reading for children and adults including increased language fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. In Montessori, we also understand that two of our human tendencies are EXPLORATION and IMAGINATION!
Reading aids in the children’s exploration of ideas and learning about the world and history. It opens their minds to many possibilities which aids in their creativity and development.
Let’s continue to READ!
Children learning through work and manipulating the materials! In the repetition, they allow themselves to try and fail and try and fail again. Through their work and exploration, they teach themselves!
Aidan’s making waves nationwide! 🌟
Big shoutout to Aidan’s Director of Admissions and Enrollment Management for presenting at the MSM Annual Conference today!
Sarah shared her expertise on how to support children during their toilet independence journey—a vital part of early development.
As a knowledgeable member of our community, Sarah is always willing to answer any questions you may have. Did you know she holds toddler, primary, and elementary training certifications, is a proud mother of two, and serves as an AMI consultant?
🌟 One week in the books! Not even the cold weather and snow can stop the magic happening in our classrooms. ❄️✨ Everybody was eager to be back and dive right into work, and we’re thrilled to see all the excitement and focus.
We can’t wait for all the fun and growth ahead in 2025.
Let’s make it an amazing year together!
✨ Wrapping up our first semester with great joy and enthusiasm! ✨
Thank you to our students, families, and staff for an incredible few months of growth, learning, and connection. 🧡
Wishing you all a warm, restful, and wonderful winter break. ❄️ See you in the new year! 🌟
Sequence, focus, and a whole lot of joy! 🌈 Watching a three-year-old immerse themselves in sewing is pure Montessori magic. 🧵 From carefully threading the needle to pulling each stitch with determination, this hands-on work teaches so much more than fine motor skills—it fosters independence, patience, and confidence.
And the best part? The giggles and smiles that come when they realize, “I did it!” 💛
Every step is intentional. Every stitch is a celebration. This is the beauty of learning through purposeful work.
🌟 Learning and Growing Together! 🌟
Did you know that two of our beloved staff members are attending the NAIS People of Color Conference in Denver, Colorado? This year’s theme, Meeting the Moment: Anchoring and Enriching Our Education Futures, inspires us to reflect, learn, and grow.
We can’t wait to hear about their experiences and continue the conversation as a community upon their return! 💡🌍
Thank you to everyone who joined us on Friday for our Community Potluck! 🍽️💛 It was heartwarming to see our entire community come together and share a meal as one big family. Every dish, every smile, and every moment made it a truly special evening. 🌟
The Moveable Alphabet is more than just a learning tool—it’s a bridge to creativity, literacy, and confidence.
At Aidan children use this material to construct words before their hands are ready to write. From spelling their first names to creating entire stories, they experience the joy of self-expression, one letter at a time. 📝
At Aidan, we nurture independence and self-confidence by giving children the space and tools to take care of themselves and their community.
Our Young Children’s Community is a beautiful example of this! Take a peek at these moments:
👕 One of our youngest learners carefully puts her clothes away.
🎃 Another child bakes delicious pumpkin bread, mastering practical life skills.
🍎 And yet another helps tidy up by putting away our snack for the day.
These activities may seem simple, but they lay the foundation for responsibility, self-discipline, and a sense of belonging.

🌍 “The child is both a hope and a promise for humanity.” — Maria Montessori 🌍
Every day, we witness this hope and promise in the children at Aidan. Their natural curiosity, compassion, and drive to learn inspire us all. By nurturing their growth, we’re investing in a more peaceful, understanding, and inclusive world.
🌱 From 18 months to 6th grade, our students experience a journey filled with learning, friendship, and self-discovery. They dive into lessons, connect deeply with peers, and explore the world around them—building independence and life skills that stay with them forever. So much happens here at Aidan Montessori, but perhaps the most incredible transformations are happening within their minds. 🧠✨
Happy Friday!!
