Clever Noodle

HD and dyslexia, was deeply frustrated by his struggles and hated trying to learn to read. Moving from the classroom to a flat screen with his teacher and classmates in postage stamp boxes further reduced his access to resources he needed. Having dedicated decades of her professional life to improving equity and performance in our American education system, Jacquelyn felt crushed. Kangaroo Cravings, Clever Noodle's first learn-to-read game, helped Madden master all 300 most common sight words in one month. Sight words are the most frequently used words in books that children read. Some of them follow phonetic rules, but many of them are exceptions that have to be memorized. Learning these words increases children's reading fluency. Most children are given this list of words and asked to memorize it with flashcards. Since that wasn't working, Jacquelyn and Madden co-created Kangaroo Cravings: a fast-paced game filled with pizza-loving kangaroos that makes it fun and easy for kids to learn sight words through multimodal learning. After extensive testing with children and experts, Kangaroo Cravings will be available this fall to help any child practice at home and in the classroom. Clever Noodle will produce a suite of games across the learn to read spectrum. Clever Noodle envisions a world where every child is taught to read. We’re building that future one game at a time.
