Discover how the annual NASPA Undergraduate Student Conference (USC) cultivates interest in the student affairs profession through mentorship, community, and identity-centered leadership development for undergraduate students interested in pursuing higher education and student affairs.
The preseners will speak on the program structure, outcomes, and how institutions can engage undergraduate students in this high-impact pipeline experience.

Conference Focus Area: Focusing on People: The Heart of the Student Affairs Profession

Learning Outcomes:
1. Understand the structure, purpose, and goals of the NASPA USC.
2. Recognize the USC as a strategic pipeline to diversify and strengthen the future of the student affairs profession
3. Learn how to identify and nominate students from their campus to attend.
4. Gain tools to mentor, support, or replicate similar opportunities locally.

✨ Our LAST Instagram Takeover Thursdays, featuring Derrick Ball✨

Derrick Ball was born and raised in Southern California. He obtained a bachelors of arts in psychology from the University of Redlands where he gained a passion for students affairs. As student body president, a resident assistant, and an intern in the student affairs office he fell in love with helping college students. He is currently serving as a graduate hall director and obtaining a masters of science in higher education administration with an emphasis in student affairs at Texas A&M. He aims to always work as a student affairs professional educating students beyond the classroom.

✨Instagram Takeover Thursdays, featuring Brooke Paradise✨

Dr. Brooke Paradise (they/them) is the Associate Dean of Student Affairs for Inclusion & Engagement at Skidmore College, where they provide strategic oversight for Campus Life & Engagement and supervise functional areas including Leadership Activities, Religious & Spiritual Life, and Student Diversity & Equity.

With 15+ years of experience across higher education, Brooke is known for building student-centered systems that strengthen belonging, equity, and student success—including developing a comprehensive residential curriculum from the ground up and facilitating a learning community that bridges faculty and staff partnerships.

Brooke’s scholarship and professional practice center neurodivergence and inclusion in the workplace, translating research into actionable strategies that support cognitive diversity and sustainable culture change.

They regularly deliver national trainings and presentations, including a NASPA national conference session on the lived experiences of neurodivergent student affairs professionals and inclusive workplace practices, as well as professional leadership development programming. Brooke has also facilitated DEI trainings for NCAA Division I student-athletes and coaching staff and led DEI-focused training for resident advisors. In addition, they serve in national association leadership roles with NASPA, including positions supporting assessment, learning outcomes, and undergraduate pipeline development.

"My name is Brianna Bryant (she/her/hers), and I am a first-year Master’s student in the College Student Affairs Administration program at the University of Georgia! I graduated from Florida State University with my Bachelor’s in Interdisciplinary Humanities with a minor in General Business. I started my involvement with NASPA in 2023 as a NUFP Fellow. Currently, I serve as a graduate representative for the Region III board and as a committee member for assessment and evaluation for the 2026 Undergraduate Student Conference."

Sohan is a coordinator at the University of Tennessee - Knoxville (UTK) in the Office of Student Conduct & Community Standards, where he supports students through accountability-centered practices that emphasize learning, growth, and personal development. Prior to joining UTK, Sohan completed his master’s degree at The Ohio State University, where he was introduced to student conduct work while serving as an assistant hall director. Through this experience, he developed a strong belief in accountability as a powerful tool for student learning and transformation, and he values the opportunity to help students navigate challenges while building skills for both personal and academic success. In addition to his role as a coordinator, Sohan serves as the chair-elect for NASPA’s Undergraduate Student Conference (USC). He pursued this opportunity after witnessing the impact USC can have on launching attendees’ careers in student affairs. Sohan earned his Bachelor of Science in Sport & Exercise Psychology from West Virginia University and his Master of Arts in Higher Education & Student Affairs from The Ohio State University.
