Could understanding how proteins change their behavior help scientists find new ways to intervene in cancer?
That's one of the questions behind SEEDS, a new research effort co-led by Georgetown University and the Buck Institute for Research on Aging, with support of up to $51.7 million from ARPA-H.
One of the team's initial research focuses is Ewing sarcoma, a rare cancer that most often affects children and young adults.
Georgetown's Priyanka Joshi, PhD, co-leads the consortium, working with colleagues including Jeffrey Toretsky, MD, a Georgetown cancer researcher with extensive expertise in Ewing sarcoma.
Together with scientists and industry partners across the consortium, they're combining laboratory research and artificial intelligence to better understand and predict harmful protein changes that may contribute to disease.
