This fall, our girls’ volleyball team had great camaraderie and finished the season on a winning streak. We also offered co-ed cross country for the first time ever, and soccer for the second time... Earlier this month, we kicked off winter sports’ season with our boys’ basketball winning their first game against The Lab School in front of a huge Cornerstone crowd! Way to go LIONS!

Spirit-Week Recap! The week before Thanksgiving, we held Spirit Week with students in grades K-12. It was a fun way to head into the break and students and staff alike had SO much fun! Here are some snapshots from 90s Day, Twin Day, and a day where staff dressed like students and students like staff.

Earlier this fall, our 9th grade students combined their studies of ancient history and literature to discuss Plato's allegory of "The Cave." In their discussions, students discussed the role of knowledge, the nature of truth, and what it means to be liberated from false realities. So far this year, they've also read epic works like The Iliad, Gilgamesh, and The Odyssey.

Over the past two weeks, we’ve celebrated both our 6th graders and Kindergarteners who have officially “graduated” to our Upper and Lower Schools. Their teachers and families were so happy to honor their acheviements from this past year at their respective graduation and awards ceremonies. Great job, LIONS!

It’s hard to believe that today was our last day of school for the 2022-23 school year! We celebrated big yesterday at our school-wide field day as seen in these photos of our students’ smiling faces. Happy summer break, Cornerstone families!

As another school year comes to a close, we want to remind all of the students, families, faculty, and friends of Cornerstone of this truth from Joshua 1:9... Read beautifully by our Kindergarten class, who graduated last week! Stay tuned for more photos from that event.

"This is my command: Be strong and very courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."

As they prepare for graduation, our seniors have been celebrated for all their hard work throughout high school in various ways. Some highlights include: a class trip to NYC to explore a new place together, and a dessert night at Busboys & Poets in D.C., where teachers & administrators at Cornerstone shared affirmation and words of encouragement for each student in front of their friends and families... Next up: Graduation! 🎉🎓

Kay Meyer was a dedicated academic tutor, NILD therapist, and faithful friend to many students at Cornerstone for over four years before she passed away last fall. On April 21st, an event was held with her family and friends to remember her legacy of selfless service and formally launch the "Kay Meyer Student Support Initiative and Fund.”

The fund seeks to inspire other tutors and educational therapists to continue a robust academic support program at Cornerstone. It will provide resources for student scholarships, as well as fund staff, training, curriculum, and facilities to meet the academic and personal needs of each student for their flourishing.

You can contribute to Kay's fund by visiting the link in our bio.

Decision Day is a national celebration for the Class of 2023 to announce their college plans. Earlier this month, all K-12 students attended our first-ever, Cornerstone Decision Day, where each of our graduating seniors were honored with a video from their peers and announced their college decision! We couldn’t be prouder of these seniors!

We recently hosted a College Mixer for students in grades 9-12 to speak with college graduates about life in college. The event aimed to showcase different types of colleges so that students could learn about their similarities and differences, as well as explore the opportunities, majors, and extracurriculars available at each institution. Students were encouraged to have one-on-one conversations with as many guests as possible; each of whom were honest and encouraging about their experiences. (...The event even ended in a surprise, "Prom-posal"!)

A few weeks ago, our 7th and 8th graders took a field trip to the National Museum of African American History and Culture and got to experience exhibits that connected with the books and topics they’ve studied recently! They also enjoyed lunch and free time outside. The experience was incredibly rich for both students and staff.
