Join us along with .adopteealliance on Sunday, November 20th at 2pm for a film screening of Operation Babylift followed by a Q&A session with the director of the film, Tammy Nguyen Lee.

The film discusses the mass evacuation of Vietnamese children during the Vietnam War, following up with some of the children who were later adopted years after.

Mr. Abdullah Haron will assess the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Malaysia, with attention to the following issues:  
 
Mr. Abdullah Haron is currently a Senior Financial Sector Expert at the Technical Assistance Strategy Division, Monetary and Capital Market Department of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington, D.C. He works extensively with central banks and supervisory authorities in the Middle East and North African region, coordinating technical assistance in the monetary and financial sector, and participating in the Financial Sector Assessment Program, Article IV surveillance, and technical assistance missions on topics related to Islamic finance. He developed a board paper that incorporated the Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB) Core Principles for Islamic Finance Regulations (Banking Segment) and Assessment Methodology, which is now used by the IMF to assess the compliance of banking regulatory and supervisory regimes globally. Mr. Haron has worked with the Central Bank of Malaysia and the Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates as well as in the private banking sector with Standard Chartered Bank, Maybank, AMMB, ABN, and AMRO.  Mr. Haron completed his undergraduate studies in Actuarial Science at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, and his MBA at Ohio University’s Shah Alam Campus in Malaysia.
