On February 19, 2020 Go-Go became the official music of D.C. through a mayoral proclamation. 2026 marks the 50-year anniversary celebration of go-go music.

Since 2015, , an initiative of Teaching for Change, has brought the distinctive sound, musical technique, and history of go-go music to D.C. area classrooms. Under the guidance of our renowned teaching artists like SweetCherie OnKeys, JuJu, and many more, young people are reclaiming a part of D.C. area culture.
