Just to clarify, apparently Facebook has given me an award as a rising creator. Not sure what that means but I will take it!

Can't believe it's almost a year since April the Engineer was published. Nine 5 star reviews on Amazon and seeing my book in the local Waterstones has been great. If you have read the book please consider leaving some feedback. Hopefully more stories to come.

Great to share the evening with you. Some fantastic stories.
*** BEWARE - THESE STORIES ARE VERY SPOOKY (AND THERE’S A TERRIFYING BLOKE ON THE FRONT COVER) ***
When darkness falls tonight, and with it being Halloween n’all, you might be in the mood to huddle together in a dimly-lit room and read some SPOOKY stories.
And if you are in such a mood then here’s a Halloween treat for you…a blood-curdling collection from Sunderland’s finest young writers (I’m convinced there are authors of the future among this lot).
I am pictured on the cover’s left edge (I didn’t realise my head was such an odd shape 🎃) reading the marvellous OBJECTS (it’s not about my head) by a GENIUS young writer by the name of Austin White. It went down an absolute storm. One to watch. 👀
The presentation night for the most terrifying tales was held at The Peacock, organised by Sunderland BID and we were joined by the Deputy Mayor of Sunderland, UK, Cllr Dorothy Trueman. We were also treated to some riotous pirate-y performances by Atlas Theatre Company. Colossal thanks to all involved for a lovely (if spooky) evening.
Anyway, enough of this preamble (* clears throat)…READ ON IF YOU DARE MUHAHAHAHA: https://issuu.com/sunderlandbid/docs/winning_sunderland_spooky_stories_2022

Feel like a proper author. First royalty cheque arrived. Not enough to retire on but at least some people buying my book.

Had a great session with some year 1 and 2 children from Burnside Academy this afternoon. Definitely some budding authors in the class and some very inquisitive minds. A big thank you to the teachers and library staff.
Looking forward to visiting Houghton Library tomorrow afternoon as part of Sunderland Literature Festival. Then on to The Peacock in Sunderland for the Spooky Stories Awards
