Sequoia School will be closed on Friday, April 15 for Professional Development Day for our staff. We will reopen on Monday, April 18.

Dear Sequoia School Parents,

Sequoia School is closed from Friday, December 24 to Friday, December 31. We will re-open on Monday, January 3, 2022.

Given the sudden Covid-19 infection locally and nationally in the recent days, both children and staff must have a negative Covid-19 test result before returning to school. On Wednesday, December 29 and Thursday, December 30, both days between 10am and 12pm, parents may come by school to pick up free PCR Covid testing kits.

Virtual parent-teacher conference is next week. If you have not signed up already, please do so by Friday, December 3 on Sign Up Genius (emailed last week). Written evaluation will be circulated this week in advance of the meeting.

Hi Sequoia School Parents,

We are scheduled to go on our first field trip on Monday, October 25. With temperature coming down and the pumpkin season among us, we are going to Cox Farms!

Please don't forget to submit your child's field trip permission form to us by Friday, October 22.

Our OPEN HOUSE is coming up soon (07/31&08/01 from 10am to 1pm). For the last 2/3 weeks we have been focusing on furnishing and decorating the space; Waldorf pedagogy inspired.
Safia, our big (mini) boss, is finally reaping the benefits of being dragged to the childcare center during the construction phase.
Loving the silk fort, wooden toys, painting, watering the plants and much more:))
Come autumn, I truly hope that she won’t be disappointed when she has to go back to her actual school.

New staff: Steve Leroy (aka Mr. Steve) is a Certification Level 1 Music Together Teacher and Mr. Steve has joined our team to provide music classes for our children. Previously, Steve taught music at Sequoia School's predecessor organization (Young'uns Summer Cooperative) and with several other DC-based organizations. He also gives private lessons to children and adults in guitar, ukulele, bass, songwriting and music theory.
