Bless morning, bless morning, bless morning!!!
Meet Corey and Jalil!!
During the highest peak of COVID-19, and of course with parental consent; we had the pleasure of doing an empowerment group tutoring session.
Empowerment sessions are group tutoring sessions. The scholars had to solve mathematical problems that were presented to them, within 40 seconds in order for them to go at playing Jenga. If the answer was incorrect, they would have to pass on their turn. If the answer were correct, then they can proceed to pull from the Jenga tower.
This particular photo the tower had fallen. Corey and Jalil were working together to reshape the tower, so they could play again.
We remember, the scholars had so much fun, they went beyond their tutoring time because they were enjoying the challenge and showing off their math skills!!!
Book your in-person or virtual sessions today!!!

Letter pen from Jamila Rachel to our Black Queens of World. We see you and appreciate you all!
"Bless Wednesday!
Time!
Today's WCWs are the Black Queens of the world. As I type this message, I am watching a Black Queen clean my room. I will not disclosed her name but she has been a housekeeper for 35 years; she will be retiring next year. Hearing how she has endured so much disrespect in the housekeeping industry; I am shock but not shock.
Black Queens are constantly showing up when everything is against them. Black Queens are constantly being ignored, abused, misused, dehumanize and most of all not properly loved and protected with consistency.
Being a Black Queen is more than being Black. It is about being of service, no matter the circumstances, no matter hardship, choosing to be loyal and dedicated and still carrying the world on your shoulders. Having a power within you that is beyond connected to the universe but connected to GOD in your faith, your words, and most of all the Queen's strength and vision.
Black Queens are constantly always protecting children, elders, men or other larger communities. They go to war for their people, they are always standing up providing resources and being of service with grace.
Throughout our history, we are consciously being trendsetters, womb carriers, leaders, healers and educators.
We do not require anything but we seek for love and protection.
Yes we get hurt, upset, angry, and mad at the world because our heart and soul is the closes representation of GOD in everything we do by being of service and still handling the trials and tribulations the world gives back to us with no regard.
In this post, Queens this is our representation, US balancing feminine and masculine energies; this is me calling you beautiful not because I see you on the outside and your fine cocoa skin because I see your heart, your soul and it is worth more than rubies and gold.
Allow this to be your motivation to not give up because this is our history! This is what makes being a Black Queen everything!
We been doing this for centuries and wearing our crown never been for the weak and never been easy.
Keep doing it!
I love you, My Black Queens
From Your Black Queen Sister."

Bless afternoon, Bless afternoon, Bless afternoon!!
Meet our scholar Quenton!!!
During virtual learning, we had the pleasure of tutoring Quenton! As you all know, breakfast is considered the most important meal of the day. Jamila Rachel's In-person & Virtual Tutoring believes breakfast and snacks are important because it helps fuels us throughout our day!
We also understand, that our scholars love their snacks & sweet treats (happy foods) like candy, cookies, honey buns and chips! We strive to introduce our scholars to new foods and snacks and still incorporate their "happy foods" in a healthy manner.
We know sometimes our scholars can be picky eaters, that is why we try to take fruits they are familiar with and introduce a new fruit to them during their snack time.
The pictures below is Quenton peeling and cutting his kiwi! Quenton tried kiwi for the first time during snack and now consider it one of his favorite fruits.
Quenton enjoy eating strawberries! Jamila Rachel wanted to mix it up and allow the students to be active in prepping their fruit bowls!
Quenton enjoyed the process so much, that he went home and asked his mother to start buying kiwi for him!
We enjoy making impact like this with our scholars not only through teaching but sharing healthy meals that we all can enjoy together, even if they are picky eaters.

Bless morning, Bless morning!!!
We are now back in tutoring sessions!!!!!!
It has been a beautiful experience since the beginning of our journey! Before we go posting our new flyers, and new services! We want to share with you all our Scholars that we had the pleasure of tutoring during our virtual school experience!
Our tutor Jamila Rachel has held their photos captive for too long! Also, with parental consent! We have the pleasure of introducing our tutoring scholars Corey, Jalil and Quenton!!
During virtual schooling, Jamila Rachel always had the scholars check-in on how they were feeling before their morning warm-ups/ class or after their first block session. She also uses the same check in concept in the beginning of each tutoring session. Jamila Rachel (The Tutor) allows them design their feelings on their whiteboard and then explain their feelings and why they drawn it.
Checking in with Scholars are important, no matter the age. If you understand how your Scholar is feeling, it will better help you support their emotional and social needs to help build a more fun, safe and educational environment for them and you!
Global Development Commons states, "Character matters, character can be taught, and character improves academic, social, and professional achievement. Since, all subsequent research shows that social emotional learning does, in fact, enhance children’s academic success while preventing problems such as mental health disorders and violence. Social-emotional competencies empower kids to grow self-aware and confident, to manage difficult emotions and impulses, and to embody empathy, which translates to not only improved behavior but also test scores."
