Last year, the CADFP hosted its first Fellowship in Malawi! Dr. Anotida Madzvamuse, mathematics professor at the University of British Columbia, partnered with Dr. Elias Mwakilama at the University of Malawi to strengthen the research capacity of the host institution and mentor graduate students in applied mathematics. This Fellowship was made possible through CADFP's partnership with the Consortium for Advanced Research Training in Africa (CARTA).

We are excited to share that the CADFP has been renewed for a new grant. This next year will focus on alumni engagement, featuring many new opportunities for our past participants.
The grant will support the final phase of the Carnegie African Diaspora Fellowship Program(CADFP), focusing on preserving the program’s accomplishments and legacy while planning for its future with guidance from the Advisory Council and alumni. https://bit.ly/4aIVwbI
Funded by the Carnegie Corporation of New York and managed by IIE in collaboration with the Association of African Universities, CADFP was created to strengthen capacity at host institutions and build long-term, mutually beneficial collaborations between universities in Africa and those in the United States and Canada.

Diaspora Fellow Dr. Baniyelme Zoogah was hosted in June and July by CADFP Host Fellow Dr. Henry Kofi Mensah at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Ghana. Last month, Host Fellow Dr. Vukosi Marivate at the University of Pretoria in South Africa welcomed CADFP Diaspora Fellow Dr. Judy Gichoya from Emory University for their collaborative project "AI-Powered Radiology Data and Multilingual Clinical Information Project."

Diaspora Fellow Professor Teresa Wasonga is being hosted by CADFP Host Fellow Dr. Catherine Aurah at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology in Kenya this summer as they collaborate on their project "Co-development and Alignment of Competencies, Curriculum, and Assessment of Teacher/Principal Preparation Programs to Meet Needs of Basic the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) Educational System needs in Kenya." The scope of their project includes a recent workshop led by Professors Aurah and Wasonga.

FUNAAB Set to Host 2025 Carnegie Diaspora Fellowship Program Workshops – FUNAAB
The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) is set to host workshops under the 2025 FUNAAB-Carnegie African Diaspora Fellowship Program (CADFP), as it had earlier welcomed two African diaspora scholars from Virginia State University (VSU), Professors Richard Omotoye and Laban Rutto.

Chemistry's Benard Omogo Selected for Carnegie African Diaspora Fellowship Program
Benard Omogo, who earned a Ph.D. from the U of A in 2014, is a visiting scholar from Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology in Kenya and an instructor of chemistry and biochemistry at the U of A.
