Grocery shopping tip!

When you are looking at prices and comparison shopping, check out the unit price to make sure you are getting the most out of your budget. I often find that twofer sales do not always give you the best bang for your buck when you look at the unit price. This infographic from University of MD is a great example of how to study unit prices.

Do you ever get bored with eating the same foods? One thing I do to make cooking and consuming food a little more exciting is use different spices. For example, I prepared baked chicken recently. Baked chicken can quickly become mundane. To spice things up a bit (pun intended), I created an Indian inspired rub to season the chicken. The rub added some zing and variety to a dish that may have otherwise been lacking.

Dry rub was salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, dried parsley, coriander, cumin, turmeric, and garam masala.

Grocery shopping tip!

Look for products with stickers like the ones you see in the picture below! Products are often marked down because they are close to the sell by date or because the packaging is slightly damaged. I especially like to look for marked down meats. You can freeze them if you are not going to use them right away.
