UPDATE: The outpouring of generosity is so wonderful. We are less than $800 away from our goal. Thank you to all who have given. Please help spread to word to reach our goal by the end of today.
With great sadness we learned earlier this week of the passing of Maliha Fontus-Lassiter, one of our 5th grade scholars. Maliha was a dedicated student who always came to school with the sweetest smile on her face. Her warm-hearted, gentle spirit was on display each day as she interacted with her peers and teachers. We will miss her immensely and will forever hold on to her memory in our hearts.
The family has shared that the support most needed from our community is to ease the financial burden of the funeral and associated costs so they can focus on grieving the loss of their beloved Maliha.

Petworth area friends, folks have asked if we are still accepting donations for food gift cards for West EC families. The answer is yes! We will run this campaign and continue providing Safeway gift cards to families until the school lest us know it’s not longer needed. Thank you for your generosity.
