“As a lawyer who made the jump from law firm to in-house counsel 6-7 years ago, I’ve always been thinking of ways to improve my business sense and be able to better serve my cross-functional colleagues. I also needed something that was flexible with my work and life schedule. When this 100% virtual, one-year, budget-friendly program came across my radar, I truly found it to check all the boxes I needed.

Stimulating, fun (really!), self-paced lessons, in addition to a handful of individual projects, group projects, and a four-month capstone project (we chose to tackle an international expansion strategy for a real chocolate business that Mars recently acquired). Interspersed with virtual events for our cohort to get to know one another.

Plus, all alums still get invited to all panel discussions, networking events, and have access to various courses that the program adds over time. My program had a focus on strategic leadership as well, which was perfectly suited for my career stage.” Valar alum Kyle Crossley, JD, EMBA, General Counsel at Holistic Industries

Forward-thinking leaders aren’t chasing —they’re building the infrastructure to use it wisely.

At the recent Valar Global Conference in Bangkok, students and alumni came together to explore how AI is reshaping business strategy and . In a discussion led by Valar Institute’s Dr. Darshan Desai, PhD, MBA, this session analyzed four high-stakes case studies:

Happily.ai’s workplace empathy engines, DeepSeek AI’s open-source acceleration, Shopee Store’s agentic AI with OpenAI, and TikTok’s hyper-personalized algorithms. The result? A candid look at AI gone right, wrong, and ethically off the rails.

Dr. Desai’s message was clear: “AI doesn’t fail because it’s bad—it fails when we stop questioning it.”

The leaders who will thrive are the ones asking better questions:

🔹 Is AI part of a clear business strategy—or just a reaction to hype?

🔹 What unintended consequences might emerge from our current AI roadmap?

🔹 How prepared is our team—technically and culturally—to execute on AI as a leadership strategy?

🔹 In what ways is AI reshaping the competitive dynamics of our industry, and what’s our strategic response?

🔹 If an AI-native competitor launched tomorrow, would our business strategy hold—or would we need to evolve quickly?

Share your insights in the comments, and let’s keep the conversation going!
