Some highlights from Superior Adventures After School Sailing! ⛵

A huge thank you to All Hands Sailing for providing local youth with the opportunity to get out on Lake Superior, learn the ropes of sailing in all kinds of fall weather, and explore the world of sailing right here in our region. We may have a few future captains in the making... What an adventure!

🍀 Mark your calendars! Next week is National 4-H Week! This year, we’ll come together as a system to recognize National 4-H Week and the Beyond Ready initiative on two celebratory days.

💚 Day 1: Go Green
🗓️ Monday, October 5, 2026
On Monday of National 4-H Week, Go GREEN and show your 4-H state spirit! A simple, cohesive way for youth, professionals, volunteers, alumni & supporters across the country to celebrate their 4-H program being Beyond Ready. Wear a green hat, clothing, face paint - anything green goes. Let's paint the nation GREEN, on Monday, October 5th!

We've been a little quiet online lately... and for good reason! ☀️🍀We've been busy making memories, getting outside, and enjoying a little less screen time this summer.

As we head into the new school year, we're looking back on some of our favorite moments. From 4-H Camp and Superior Adventures, to all the excitement of the Bayfield County Fair, it's been a summer filled with learning, adventures, and good old fashioned fun!

☀️We're gearing up for a summer of adventures, and we're excited to introduce our new Summer Youth Adventures Leader!☀️

"Hey there! My name is Nicole Boyd, and I’m excited to be the Summer Youth Adventures Leader for Bayfield County this season working with Superior Adventures. I graduated from Northland College in 2020 with a degree in Outdoor Education, and after spending the last few years working in the mental health field, I’m excited to return to my passion for outdoor learning, exploration, and adventuring with youth!

I’ve lived in the area since 2016 and currently reside in Washburn with my husband, two dogs, and three cats. In my free time you can find me gardening, biking in the barrens, kayaking, reading a good book, and more. I’m looking forward to a fun‑filled, sun‑baked summer full of adventures throughout the beautiful Chequamegon Bay Area. Hope to see you soon!"

✨ 2026 4-H Project Showcase! ✨

Last Saturday we celebrated the creativity, curiosity, and hard work of our local youth in the arts! With youth presenting an impressive 36 projects, we saw everything from visual art and writing, to demonstrations and hands‑on creations. Each project reflected time, effort, learning, the courage to try something new, and bravery in sharing one's voice.

Thank you to every young person who shared their work with us, and to the families, judges, volunteers, and community support who made this day possible. We’re grateful for a community that continues to make space for creativity, exploration, and connection through art.

Special shout out to the Northern Great Lakes Visitor Center for hosting us, and The Craft Connection and Rose’s Pottery Studio for sponsoring some BINGO prizes!

⚠️ CANCELED: 4-H Project Showcase, Saturday April 18th.

Unfortunately the 4-H Project Showcase scheduled for tomorrow, April 18th has been canceled. NGLVC experienced some significant storm damage with the storm that passed through this afternoon, and will now be closed tomorrow, April 18th.

We will be reassessing next week to look at a potential alternative date to run the Showcase. Our hope is to have more information to share with you all in the next couple weeks!
