Should we add wildlife research to our resumés? We've had a little visitor the last couple of days! Mom has been hanging around the station, so we know she isn't too far away, but it's always fun to see wildlife up close in its' natural habitat! 🦌

We’ve heard of short corn, but this sweet corn is pretty short too. The white flag in the photo is 2 feet high.
This sweet corn was transplanted into clear plastic mulch on 7 April. Some of it succumbed to frosts, but the survivors are silking right now!

We also had the privilege of having Crystal Valley interns visit our Soybean Cyst Nematode lab last Friday, as they will start soil sampling and sending in their samples to our lab to be tested! While they were here, they got the chance to tour the lab and see cysts up close. Once the lab has received their samples, they have the chance to come back and see the process from start to finish! Thank you to Extension Educator Matt Pfarr, Crystal Valley Regional Sales Manager Joe Faugstad, SROC SCN Professor Senyu Chen, SROC Principal Lab Tech Cathy Johnson, and SROC Senior Plot Tech Wayne Gottschalk for this wonderful opportunity to collaborate!

It sure was hot out there, but that didn't stop the Hartley 2nd graders from having a blast, and to say they were excited was an understatement! We can't thank our staff enough for taking time out of their busy schedules to help the kiddos learn everything about Agronomy, Horticulture, and Dairy! 🐄🌱🌽
