πͺ World Baking Day! πͺ
Baking is a fun, natural way to build literacy skills β reading recipes, measuring ingredients, following directions.
Cooking together = learning together (plus treats at the end!)
Gramma's Apple Dumplings Recipe
INGREDIENTS:
3-4 Apples, peeled & diced
2 Eggs
1 Cup Milk
3.5 Cups Flour
2 tsp Baking Powder
1/2 tsp Salt
Butter & Cinnamon Sugar (for topping)
INSTRUCTIONS:
Peel & dice apples into small pieces.
In one bowl, mix 2 eggs and 1 cup of milk.
In another bowl, mix 3.5 cups flour, 2 tsp baking powder, and 1/2 tsp salt.
Combine wet & dry ingredients to form dough.
Knead & roll out dough (adding flour as needed to prevent stickiness), then cut into squares.
Place a spoonful of diced apples on each square, then fold dough around apples to form dumplings.
Drop dumplings into boiling water and cook until apples are soft.
Pluck out, place in bowls, smother with butter, and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar!
